  2. WUZZimuzzi says:

Does ANYONE know the true difference between ZBRUSH, 3D-COAT and MUDBOX?

I mean i learned Zbrush, is any workflow on the other programms better?
And if – which one? on which programm?

    Greetings!

Zbrush is the most awkward program of those.
Mudbox is by far the easier one to learn because it is too simple. If you know sculpting you can master the program in 1 day.
Im learning 3dcoat slowly cause the help files sux and it is the less popular of those, and this DVD will help ppl a lot. Sincerely, 3d Coat looks like to be more friendly user than zbrush and even have more tools than it.
      Thx

3DCoat’s main form of sculpting (or at least the one the author has promoted the most and added most features) is in voxels. The easiest way to imagine voxes is thinking about a 2-color b&w bitmap image, but in 3D. Those 3D binary pixels are the voxels. The coolest thing about it is that you always have a fixed resolution and “blending” things is as easy as moving them on top of each other. The bad part is obviously that, if you don’t set your layers up properly, any geometry is lost after dropped under existing geometry. That means you need a quite different approach to sculpt on voxel, but the simple fact that you don’t need to rely on “topology” to sculpt means you’re much more free to try and shape your form, instead of having to stick to the underlying base mesh to prevent ripping. It’s definitely a new experience and, at the very least, worth a try :)
