Lesson Outline (6 lessons)
In this series of lessons we’ll learn the basics of using the RollingShutter plug-in to fix skew and wobble in our footage. These effects appear in any camera that uses a CMOS sensor, such as the Canon 5d MK2, the Nikin D90 and the Red One. Using RollingShutter, we can fix distortion not only for visual appeal, but also so it tracks better through match moving software.

We’ll begin this project by learning what issues are created by a rolling shutter and what they look like in real footage. We’ll also learn which of these issues can be fixed by the RollingShutter plug-in and which cannot. We’ll then learn how we can shoot some test footage and bring it into Nuke to find the right correction value for our specific camera. We’ll then solve a basic shot by looking at some of the quality and estimation controls. Once we have a basic shot working, we’ll take a look at some footage that breaks and how we can modify RollingShutter’s basic and advanced properties to solve these problems. We’ll see a simple animation fix and a more complex way to solve the problem.

1. Introduction and Project Overview

3. Finding the right Correction value for your camera

5. Using Shutter Sync and Luminance Correct to fix distortion issues

2. What is RollingShutter? What types of problems can this plug-in fix?

4. Basics of using RollingShutter

6. Diagnosing problems using the Show Vectors checkbox

Darren Brooker, ?Essential CG Lighting Techniques with 3ds Max, Third Edition?
Focal Press | ISBN: 024052117X | 2008 | PDF | 416 pages | 15.43 MB

This book is a complete look at the subject matter. It teaches real methods behind real world work. Those that work through it will be taught quality methods for lighting, and should be better able to evaluate real world light, being able to reproduce it in a 3d environment.

T-Splines for Rhino 2.3.3 Final | 15.5 MB

T-Splines for Rhino helps designers easily create and edit fluid, organic shapes for design and manufacturing. This plugin, tightly integrated with Rhino 4, adds a suite of new surfacing tools to help designers speed up their design time, accomplish tasks that would be tedious or difficult in Rhino, and translate between subdivision surface modeling programs and Rhino.

Product benefits
Design faster: Speed up the design process and decrease your design time. Replace slow and tedious workflows with T-Splines? rapid surface creation tools.
Meet customer requirements with ease: Easily create models that meet aesthetic requirements and match customer design specifications.
Be more innovative: Create fluid and organic shapes that cannot be modeled with other tools.
Be more competitive: Cycle through more design iterations in less time and respond faster to design bids.
Create production-ready designs: T-Splines surfaces are ready for analysis and manufacturing.
Eliminate rework and clean-up: Create continuous and gap-free models.

Product features
New modeling technique: Polygonal or Box modeling is a method where the designer pulls on, extrudes, and scales basic shapes to quickly rough out a desired shape. As the model becomes more refined, sections of the shape can be subdivided to add more detail and control. T-Spines makes this technique available for the first time in a NURBS compatible method. .
Powerful surfacing tools: Using simple T-Splines commands, it?s easy to generate editable, non-rectangular surfaces from curves?something that?s not possible to do using NURBS.
High level of shape control: Keeping the number of control points to a minimum (to facilitate a smooth surface) is the first rule of modeling. T-Splines makes this easy to do, by letting you insert single control points instead of a whole row, as required in NURBS. Editing these points, deleting sections of points, and adding local creases are possible, too.
Interoperability: Import polygonal models or .obj files and convert them to T-Splines surfaces. T-Splines surfaces are 100 percent directionally compatible with NURBS and at any point in the design, you can convert your T-Splines model to a NURBS model for downstream analysis or manufacturing applications.

Genemation GenHead 3.1

dd
Genemation GenHead 3.1 | 54.9 MB | English

GenHead is standalone software tool that is designed to enable both professional and amateur digital content artists to quickly and easily create 3D heads from 2D digital photographs.
GenHead ideally requires a front and profile photograph of the target. If a front profile is all that?s available GenHead will synthesis a profile. No special equipment is required, a standard digital camera (>4MP) will suffice. A little care in taking the pictures will help ensure you get the best possible 3D head.

GenHead then guides you through the process of turning your photos into a 3D head, so no experience is necessary. First of all you load the photos in, there is a preview so you can check you?ve got the right ones.

Next GenHead prompts you to correct any problems with the images in order to get the best possible result. You can correct their orientation and you may adjust the brightness and colour balance.

After that, GenHead asks you to place a series of markers around the face. An active Help window shows you where to place each marker, making it a simple process.

A new window is automatically loaded in which you will see your original 2D front and profile images in their own pane, and a seperate pane with the newly generated 3D head.

This whole process takes just a few minutes, then GenHead will generate the 3D head.

System Requirements:
Windows 2000/XP/Vista
2.0GHz P4 or equivalent
512MB RAM
250MB free hard disk space

Graphics Requirements
64MB RAM
OpenGL 1.3

Genemation GenCrowd 3D 2.0 | 61.8 MB | English

GenCrowd 3D from Genemation, the Face Creators, allows you to generate realistic looking 3D models of heads at differing levels of detail, based factors such as age, ethnicity, and gender.
Need to populate your stadium or street scene in Tokyo, London, Los Angeles, or Bombay? How much time and money would you have to spend sourcing imagery of the various ethnic groups (and avoid copyright issues), and then how many artists would you need to laboriously produce the 3D heads and animations? GenCrowd 3D allows any number of 3D unique heads to be generated by the simple press of a single button. Once you have created your desired head or group, you can then save and export the mesh and textures into many of the popular 3D art animation packages. GenCrowd 3D exports in the following formats: Obj, Maya, VRML, Fbx, Xsi.
