1. Extract files to C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Mudbox2009/help/ (assumed you installed mudbox on drive C. Adjust path if necessary)
2. Open Mudbox, go to menu Windows – Preferences – User Interfaces.
3. Set option Get Help From: Local Machine/Network, adjust path if necessary.
4. Now you can access help files faster.

I’m using the same one downloaded from here, X64 version on Xp X64 edition. Played around with it for a few hours, and hasn’t crashed once. Been working out quite well for me. Also got the same proc type as you. Yet my gpu is an nvidia geforce 8800 instead of a quadro. Maybe the quardro is causing the crashing?

Gregg, I got it to stop Crashing. I had the same problem as you. Uninstall your invidia drivers. both of them the driver and the performance driver. Install the 169.96 driver from nvidia’s website. I didn’t install the performance driver and it fixed my problem. Mudbox doesn’t crash. I will try installing the performance driver to see if that was the cause of the problem.

Try right clicking mudbox.exe>properties>compatability tab>run as administrator

I got mine to patch by moving the mudbox.exe to another folder containing the patch. Ran the patch there and then moved it back into the Program Files/Autodesk/Mudbox 2009 folder.
