First, if you have any older version of houdini, uninstall it. The Houdini 10 will fuckup the older version anyway. Also uninstall the sesi folder (/Library/Preferences/sesi).
Install Houdini 10. But don’t open that yet.
Go to:
/Library/Frameworks/Houdini.framework/Versions/10.0.249.3/Resources/houdini/sbin
And put the sesinetd in the trash. I will ask to authenticate, so type your password.
Now you can drop the cracked sesinetd inside the same folder:
You don’t need to type all the pathway just drag and drop your sesinetd and it will do the rest for you.
Now WATCH OUT!!! You need to RESTART your machine!!! VERY IMPORTANT!!!!
Ok… After the restart. Open the License Administrator.app (inside the installed Houdini folder)
Also open the keygen.exe (you can you Darwine app to open .exe inside mac)
Type your server name and server code. (You can find it at the License Administrator app. “License server host” and “License server code” inside the “Server Information” Tab)
And press generate license.
Go back to License Administrator.
(File/Manually enter keys)
And place your key in there.
It will work now!!! Finally!!!

Type this with NO quotes (“)
Note that it’s just one line (the forum split the line, sorry)

When you do those three chmod in the sesinetd, it says to the computer that:
chmod +w (this can be writable)
chmod +r (this can readable)
chmod +x (this can be executable)
w = write
r = read
x = execute
Now the License Server can work with the sesinetd

Where is licence server to stop it. I found hserver buried somewhere, but it looked like a terminal window. How do you stop it?

On Mac you can’t shutdown the Lisence Server
As I say. You don’t need to shut it down anyway.
Just drop the sesinetd to the trash and replace with the cracked sesinetd.
Do the chmod operation and restart.
After the restart the License Server will pickup the new sesinetd.
Small question: I have the 32bit version working seemingly fine. But its wanting to connect to a localhost/*****/start website each time I start the program. Is this website access to a shared online render farm, or some other form of resouce, or other? I’ve continued to block access to the page just in case, but as yet I’m unsure if this is the correct course of action.
I don’t think it connects to the sidefx. Because you can use it without internet. To stop the web site lauche open the program and go to edit/Open Help Browser at Startup.

hi lala, the problem is that you have to set the sesinetd to executable, it probably isn’t now.. Go as follows:
in Terminal login as root: su
then cd to the directory: cd /usr/lib/sesi/
then see if it’s set to execute: ls -la
it’ll probably read something like: -rw-r–r–
while it should be: -rwxr–r–r
now use chmod to correct the problem: chmod u+x sesinetd
check again using: ls -la
this did the trick for me with Houdini version 9.5 on Fedora so it should work..

chmod /Library/Frameworks/Houdini.framework/Versions/10.0.249.3/Resources/houdini/sbin
if give you an error missaje don’t worry buy type all the words exactly.
After this tipe:
chmod /Library/Frameworks/Houdini.framework/Versions/10.0.249.3/Resources/houdini/sbin
And finally type:
chmod /Library/Frameworks/Houdini.framework/Versions/10.0.249.3/Resources/houdini/sbin
The last two types don’t have to give you an error.
When finish close houdini shell

Uninstall is not enough, you need to delete “keys” from WINDOWS folder.
I ‘m a mac user. I have accidentally installed the license keys, incompletely so I uninstalled Houdini and it was not enough either.
All license keys are still so, how can I delete license keys in MAC [Leopard]? Where is the license key folder located in OS X?

Hey guys, I have question with the installing for mac os x. I have done everything up to restarting computer but for some reason the license administrator cannot connect to my laptop local. I am new to mac, so this matter kinda perplexed me. Is there anything that I should shut or disable ?
Works on mac. I guess the restart is important to allow licensing to accept the generated keys. I had tried this several times before and it would always error when entering the licenes. Runs great now!

At first I got the same licensing error for the 2-5 keys on my 64 bit Windows 7.
The strange thing I found that I didn’t have to overwrite sesinetd.exe in the system32 folder.
I can simply copied the file into system32 dir.
So I uninstall the software.
Then it was strange, that the sesinetd.exe remained in the system32.exe.
I deleted it, then reinstall Houdini.
Then again I haven’t found sesinetd.exe in the system32 diresctory, and on the whole C: drive.
But I can see running it in the task manager and in the command line column I saw that it indeed running as c:\windows\system32\sesinetd.exe file.
I tried to find it with explorer, with far manager. Even if my settings set to show hidden and system file I couldn’t found anything.
At that pont I dedided to reboot my machine from another drive booting my old windows XP.
Yes, the file was there.
I simply rename the original to sesinetd.exe_ and copy the new one from the crack.
After reboot the windows 7 64 bit. I can’t find neither the old and the new sesinetd.exe files, but starting the Houdini License administrator the previously enetered keys wher there and fully functioning (three different set for the first four licence type, from my three previous trying).
After that I installing the remaining keys without any problem.
And right now houdini master is running on my Windows 7 64 bit system.
Obviously there’s a method hiding files in win7, and somehow even if I copied the cracked seinetd.exe, the service that i started was the original sesinetd.exe (I just don’t understand how can be two file with the same name in the same folder), if someone find a solution how can these files can be aacessible from win7 u don’t have to boot into other OS.
I don’t know if this method is working on vista 64 bit or not, I haven’t used it.
Hope my experience can help others installing the keys.

I’m having the same problem as a lot of other mac users. I’m running on Snow Leopard and when I run the License Administrator and there is no File menu at the top! I have had no luck either….Houdini installs ok but the License servers fucks up on me..
When i try to stop the license server using both of these:

i get a “fail” message. it wont just stop!

I restart the machine and go to License Administrater but the fucking window doesnt show up..I’m just too pissed and frustrated with this..

4) Open the License Administrator.app (inside the installed Houdini folder / administrative tools)
Also open the keygen.exe ( h10.exe inside crack folder) (you can you Darwine app to open .exe inside mac or open it in a pc)
Type your server name and server code. (You can find it at the License Administrator app. ?License server host? and ?License server code? inside the ?Server Information? Tab)
Server name = license server host
server code = Server code

And press generate license ( in h10.exe ) copy the licenses and…
Go back to License Administrator.
(File/Manually enter keys)
And place your key in there.
It will work now!!! Finally!!!

I did exactly what the instrucions file said and had the same problem as Carlos, later I found these blog and did what the Pyton and King said
everything was going great untill I got the message that the license administrator couldnt connect to my server so I cannot see my server code
n I got three red marks in the server information

Uninstall is not enough, you need to delete “keys” from WINDOWS folder.
I ‘m a mac user. I have accidentally installed the license keys, incompletely so I uninstalled Houdini and it was not enough either.
All license keys are still so, how can I delete license keys in MAC [Leopard]? Where is the license key folder located in OS X?

go into library/preferences and delete sesi and that will take care of it. Also if you were able to get it working on mac tell me how you did it because I have never been able to get it installed even follow others detailed directions!!

Well, still doesn’t work for me on Mac. I got the license server up and running (allowed to serve licenses) but not a single license generated by the Keygen is valid.

i have follow all the step to install houdini on Mac but i don’t know why when i open the License Administrator.app. it only show two options, just Installed Licenses and Server Information. i can’t find any file view or help option!!!
Hey guys, I have question with the installing for mac os x. I have done everything up to restarting computer but for some reason the license administrator cannot connect to my laptop local. I am new to mac, so this matter kinda perplexed me. Is there anything that I should shut or disable ?
Works on mac. I guess the restart is important to allow licensing to accept the generated keys. I had tried this several times before and it would always error when entering the licenes. Runs great now!

At first I got the same licensing error for the 2-5 keys on my 64 bit Windows 7.
The strange thing I found that I didn’t have to overwrite sesinetd.exe in the system32 folder.
I can simply copied the file into system32 dir.
So I uninstall the software.
Then it was strange, that the sesinetd.exe remained in the system32.exe.
I deleted it, then reinstall Houdini.
Then again I haven’t found sesinetd.exe in the system32 diresctory, and on the whole C: drive.
But I can see running it in the task manager and in the command line column I saw that it indeed running as c:\windows\system32\sesinetd.exe file.
I tried to find it with explorer, with far manager. Even if my settings set to show hidden and system file I couldn’t found anything.
At that pont I dedided to reboot my machine from another drive booting my old windows XP.
Yes, the file was there.
I simply rename the original to sesinetd.exe_ and copy the new one from the crack.
After reboot the windows 7 64 bit. I can’t find neither the old and the new sesinetd.exe files, but starting the Houdini License administrator the previously enetered keys wher there and fully functioning (three different set for the first four licence type, from my three previous trying).
After that I installing the remaining keys without any problem.
And right now houdini master is running on my Windows 7 64 bit system.
Obviously there’s a method hiding files in win7, and somehow even if I copied the cracked seinetd.exe, the service that i started was the original sesinetd.exe (I just don’t understand how can be two file with the same name in the same folder), if someone find a solution how can these files can be aacessible from win7 u don’t have to boot into other OS.
I don’t know if this method is working on vista 64 bit or not, I haven’t used it.
Hope my experience can help others installing the keys.

I’m having the same problem as a lot of other mac users. I’m running on Snow Leopard and when I run the License Administrator and there is no File menu at the top! It won’t let me do anything with it! I followed all of the instructions correctly, and this is just making me mad. Please tell me how to fix this problem.

I have had no luck either….Houdini installs ok but the License servers fucks up on me..
When i try to stop the license server using both of these:
/etc/init.d/sesinetd stop or sesictrl -q
i get a “fail” message. it wont just stop!
So I just deleted the sesinetd file from user/lib/sesi folder and replaced it with the cracked one..
I restart the machine and go to License Administrater but the fucking window doesnt show up..I’m just too pissed and frustrated with this..
Could anyone throw out some pointers??
