Now-Rouz, in word, means “New Day”.
It is the new day that starts the year, traditionally the exact astronomical beginning of the Spring.
Iranians take that as the beginning of the year.

Hi, just curious about something, how does Islam practitioners, or the government look at this celebration? I ask because most of the “Islamics” ( the hard ones ) here on Turkey, look with a twisted mouth things like ” 31 Dec – New Year’s eve” ,. Lovers day, Women’s day”, Republic day, X-mas, etc etc.
I know a little about Zoroastrianism, and we are all the time reading news on Iran, about the current regime pressing other religious groups, cults, celebrations, etc so I wonder how the things are rolling nowadays.

A little late,but happy new year from germany! Thanks for creating this great website. It is my main resource for the tools i need and that i can’t afford. Regardless of their finacial situation people shout have access to knowledge and the tools to create media. I think it’s also a matter of equity. One intersting thing from a western perspective is that this is a iranian site. Pure evil from a western propagandistic viewpoint ;) . I hope for more understanding, basically all humans have the same hopes and dreams. Nearby i have store from an iranian guy and i have seen some of this Zoroastrian symbols there, maybe i should wish him a happy new year. Peace, understanding ,wealth ,health and justice for everybody!
Hey brilliant, this has been a brilliant help to me, I have had some really serious annoyances in my private life recently and it is strange how little things can really pick you back up or make you lose focus on the rubbish things and get busy with the other things in life.
