In this series of tutorials, you’ll learn how to put together all the elements you’ll need to
create a powerful and professional site analysis using Revit 2014.

We’ll begin by inserting a satellite image of a proposed building site located in a dense downtown
setting where you’ll see how to quickly scale your image using real world data. From there we’ll
create the site’s infrastructure by placing streets, bridges and blocks that will really bring the
site to life. Once we’ve completed our model, we’ll then analyze the site even further by
conducting a solar study to study the sun’s path and its effect on our site. Finally, we’ll be
able to experience the scale of our site by creating a basic walkthrough of downtown.

Once you’ve become comfortable with the concepts and techniques in this course, you’ll be able to
put together a high-quality site analysis presentation of your own with no problem.

In this series of tutorials, you’ll learn how to create a material cost estimation report using Schedules in Revit 2014. We’ll begin by exploring how to create a cost Schedule for the steel in our design. We’ll learn how to create custom formulas that will allow Revit to generate a cost for material using units and calculations which may be specific to that material’s properties. From there we’ll apply this same process to figure out the cost of doors, windows and even concrete. And finally after we’ve generated our totals, you will see how to easily customize the format and appearance of your Schedules. Once you’ve become comfortable with the concepts in this course, you’ll be generating cost Schedules of your own in no time.

In this series of lessons, you’ll learn how to create professional detail drawings in Revit.

We’ll begin by creating a longitudinal section view of a building model. From there, we’ll
create a call out view around an area in our section that we want to detail. We’ll continue
with developing our slab and foundation detail by adding reinforcement steel and even sand
filler beneath the slab. Once our larger components are in place, we’ll add connections,
flashing and finishes to our detail.

By the end of this course you’ll have a good understanding of how to create high-quality
detail drawings of your own, quickly and efficiently.

In this series of tutorials, we’ll go over how to create a custom family in Revit 2014.

We’ll begin with a stepping concept for our custom casework design. From there, we’ll open a casework template and begin adjusting and placing some reference planes. Once we have planes in place, we will begin modeling the basic form of our design by working with the extrusion tool. Finally, once our form is in place, we’ll use additional forming tools like void, revolve and swept blend to transform our basic shape to a more realistic looking family.By the end of this course you’ll gain a real appreciation for being able to create customized a parametric family of your own using Revit 2014.

In this series of Revit tutorials you will learn the basic concepts and tools you can use to create a
wood frame structure in Revit.

We’ll begin by setting work planes and reference planes that will help set the stage for our framing
project. From there, we’ll make and label materials according to our framing system requirements. Once
we’ve created our materials, we’ll begin framing out the small building starting with the exterior
walls. Once our walls are in place, we’ll frame the ceiling as well as door and window openings. And
finally, you’ll learn how easily you can frame a basic roof system using the framing materials we’ve
customized. Once our building is complete, you will be introduce to the lumber extension tool and will
explore how this tool can be a time saver for any wood framing project.

By understanding these framing and modeling concepts, along with how to use the lumber extension tool,
you’ll be able to tackle any framing project thrown your way.

In this series of tutorials, I’ll teach you how to work with HVAC systems in Revit MEP. Our install project will be located on the first and second floor of a single-family home.

We’ll begin our project by establishing zones and spaces in order to determine our heating and cooling load requirements. Once we’ve established what the needs are for each space, we will then begin laying out the equipment for our system. With equipment in place, we’ll then learn a few easy ways to model duct work and even test your system for pressure loss.

Once you become comfortable using the tools in this workflow, you’ll be able to design your next installation with confidence and precision using Revit MEP.
