Autograss is your one-click grass solution for V-Ray

Select your object, click Autograss, and you’re done. You’ve got photorealistic grass that renders in V-Ray for 3ds Max.

Advanced multi-threaded memory management

Realistic grass presets
Autograss includes eleven preset grass types covering the most commonly used grasses. You don’t need to model any grass. In addition to these presets, Autograss provides you with mapping and variation to produce special effects like worn-out trails and lawnmower paths.

  3. will this work with the latest v-ray (SP4a) and 3ds Max 2011?. Because all the sample files are for max 2008/2009.

  4. Nevermind, I tried it and it has its own install path for 2011, so OK on that front

    • But now I get a ‘failed to initialize’ error on opening Max, Any ideas?

      • use the 2010 installation and change the path to your 2011 directory… and it will work ^^

  8. Yes it does not work in 3ds max 2011 i get could not initialize error as well, though the 2011_63.dol file is there as it is supposed to be

    also how do i uninstall it now so i can try with a clean install as a 2010 plug in?

      To use the 15 KB keygen I should install the 1.8 GB net framework 4.0.
      What is this ? A microsoft spot ?

        1.8gb REALLY!?? I just downloaded and installed .Net Framework 4.0 and it was only 39mb!!!!!! Windows XP SP3 32 bit! And the keygen worked just fine!!

    The install worked perfect, but when I render a scene, max allways crashs. Does anybody has the same problem and can tell me a solution for that ?

  19. problem solved it seems 3dmax was still running in the background when i was instaling auto grass so when i stoped it using task manager it installed normaly and worked

    i am trying to install it for 3dsmx2008 64bit on windows 7 64bit.
    it installs perfectly but when i start max it gives me error that the plugin failed to initialize.

    can anyone help whats the problem?

    • Everything is ok but you all keep in mind about the vray 1.5 SP3 is minimum requirement.

  28. everyone here running 32 bits? I’ve had the same problem as Deuf the 64bit file is corrupt and won’t extract.

    • Autograss only works with vray sp3 to vray sp4a, older versions than this wont work. That?s why you get that error.

  45. Installed in my max 2011 64 but when star 3dmax comes the mess:

    autograss_x64_2011.dlo failed to initialize.
    Error code 126

    Can you help me on that?

      but it work perfectly fine in my max2010 32bit, max2011 32bit and max 2010 64bit with vray sp5.

      it’s just that….. wont work in max 2011 64bit.

      any new cracked version for 3ds Max 2011 64bit perhaps?

    it says it needs appropriate version of .NET, which I’ve installed… reboot, and again, it won’t work…
    beside,… win7, 64bit, 3ds max 2010…

  47. Am using Windows 7 Ultimate x64 with 3DS Max 2010 x64 and V-Ray Adv 1.50 SP4 and everything installed, and renders perfectly, using the x64 Autograss links from above.

    I have a question.

    I am wondering if I can apply the, “Wind” Space Warp in 3DS to Autograss to make it sway.

    Perhaps this is possible, but I can not get it to work.

    Whenever I did the, “Bind To Space Warp”, both the Wind icon, and the Autograss “blinked”, meaning it took. But when I rendered the animation, no grass swayed.

    • If you read the Autograss documentation.pdf included in the download. I believe it explains how to do that among many other useful things.

    everybody having problems with 2011 x64 don’t use the 2011 checkbox in the install dialog… instead use the 2010 checkbox… and change the path of the 2010 directory to your 2011 directory… and all should be good…

    plugin is working perfect…
    win7 x64, 3ds max 2011 x64, vray 1.5 sp4a, vray rt, vue8 xstream,
    and some others… ^^

    • Hey, did u download vray 1.5 SP4.. looking for a version that works correctly with Vue xStream (SP3/4 does). I am on the brink of buying it anyway but thought I would ask :)
