  1. Hi, thanks for this upload :) Just wanted to ask if anyone seems to get quite a lot of lag when using it? I’ve got 4 gig of ram and a 1gig GTX460 at home but still have trouble running it – I’m fairly sure it meets the system requirements. Thanks :)

    • I got a nvidia gtx 285 2gb, 12gb ram, i7 920 processor. Everything works flawlessly. It takes about 3-6 secs for it to bake the paint strokes into the uv. I guess you have a driver issue?

  2. “so be sure to drop ATI an email asking how to enable the NVidia chipset on your particular card.” LOL

  3. Thanks for the upload.
Quick question to anyone in the know…
Mari requires OpenGl 3.0 in order to run.
I tried it on a Windows XP 64bit install with an Nvidia QuadroFX 3450 card.
My workstation is reported as using openGL version 2.1.
Is the problem with the OS or the graphics card?
Have been reluctant to abandon XP64 for Windows 7 but have been due a graphics card update for some time.
Time to replace both? or is it possible to get it running on XP with this hardware??
Any help would be a great help as I’m itching to try out this package.
    Thanks

    • I’m pretty sure your card will need to be updated. I don’t think the old 3000 or 4000 range support OpenGL 3.0. I might be wrong, so maybe someone else can confirm. For decent performance you’re really gonna need a high end card anyway. This is a studio tool and really isn’t for the masses.
Don’t know about the XP thing as I’m on 7 64bit. Again maybe someone else can let you know if they have it running on your OS. Windows 7 is definately stable enough to make the switch. The only bummer is losing some of those softs that are no longer compiled.
      Hope that helps.

  4. hey, i just emailed ATI support about the nVidia Chipset problem that you’ve mentioned.
They apologized and offered to send me two new nVidia Quadros for free since i am among the first ten people to report this issue. so hurry up… i think i was number four.

VERY nice post… and thanks for making me smile ; )

      • Damn!
I’ve emailed Ati, but they ran out of quadros, so they said they’re gonna send me an S3 virge ?will it work?

        • Wow!!!!! I tried it. It works like a charm on a S3. But you have to make sure you’ve got the Millenium Driverpack installed – if you use the unpatched version it wont work! Version 0.81beta3 just got leaked yeasterday. This will also speed up you Vray rendering performance by 600-800% It’s amazing!!!
          Great Stuff Dude!

  5. Hi. Yes, i have the same problem, it has a huge lag (I have an Nvidia gt 220 with 1 gb of video ram, 4 gb ddr 3, 1333 mhz, and a quad core processor 2.5 ghz), even on smaller texture size. I’ll give a look at the video tutorials from the foundry website, maybe they’ll help.

  6. Thank you very mutch, but I have a small comment for everyone, not all of us speaks good english, so keep it simple specially when its technical.
For instance, I have no idea what “verbose” is, and when I look it up, I get 8 different definitions.

  7. i emailed ATI, they ran outta cards, but are going to send me 34million in shares, awsome..

    fucking fags.

  8. Hey Johan T,

try to update your nvidia drivers to the newest one(260.99). From your config you definitely shouldn’t have any problems. You have nice gfx. I have much much weaker gfx card and when I updated drivers Mari works. Well it’s not smooth as I would like, but at least I can run the application.
    I have Win64 bit also.

    • Hi millansky,

Thanks for the reply. No joy I’m afraid. The Nvidia 260.99 driver appears to be for Geforce/ION cards so won’t run. I have the latest drivers for the FX 3450.
I would have thought it would run on most quadro FX cards but I guess mine doesn’t support OpenGL 3.0. Bum!
Good to here it runs on XP 64bit though, although I may well have to look into updating both.

  9. I tried on a Nvidia 9400 with 1GB, 8GB Ram, and a Quad Core, but it runs so slowly that i merely paint a little. The good thing is that the program works fine, it’s well patched as far as i know, the bad thing is that the requirements for this are so big that not everyone would like to have it for production, i stay with mudbox, btw someone knows about mudbox advantage package? :p
