This is the first course in the series Mastering Nuke: Your First Shot. In this course, you will learn how to assemble and finalize a full CG shot and through the process, you will discover the powerful tools of Nuke and its interface.
No previous experience or knowledge is required. Every step is carefully commented and explained with the goal to make you a compositor in just a few hours.
The author is Florian Girardot, a senior visual effect artist specialized in Compositing who has been working in the movie industry for more than 10 years. Some of his recent projects include Deadpool 2, Detective Pikachu and Spiderman Far From Home among others.

In this tutorial, you’ll get to learn the powerful 3D functions of Nuke. Geometry creation, shading, lighting, animation, camera projection and more. In this masterclass, Follow me through the integration of two green screen shots; One key shot and its declination. We will build a high-quality environment with the help of the Quixel library and render it in Unreal, to efficiently comp the shots in Nuke.

This Class will be based on a practical shot that we’ll achieve together from the beginning to the end.
In this first chapter, we’ll prepare the plate for compositing, we’ll track it, undistort it, denoise and paint it, making the plate ready for the integration.
Next, we’ll integrate a CG creature. We’ll be focusing on the most important aspect of CG integration which is the integration according to the distance.
Then, In the third chapter, We’ll cover the essential steps of adding stock footage to your shot.
Finally, in the last chapter we’ll check all the technical aspects of the shot, to make sure it’s ready for final delivery. We will as well learn what DI mattes are and how to output them.
At the end of this course, You’ll be mastering all the essential steps of CG integration and shot finishing.
