does anyone else have problems rendering this in Maya, I got an Error message in the pink bar saying error could not obtain a licence, Now I followed all the sintructions such as replacing the cgauth.dll and vray.dll file. not sure whats wrong.

I found out why it wasn’t working, you have to also place the .dll file in maya root folder as well as in maya bin folder as well as in vray bin folder, doesn’t explain this in the notes. after that works like a charm.

just ignore that bit, I was thinking of something else, just take you d.ll file and copy it into Maya bin folder, and also in v ray bin folder then you will be ok. A message should come up asking you if you want to replace the exisiting file, then you know you’ve done it right.
Now i’ve got to firgure out how to use it, I used it in Max, never in Maya and it’s slightly different.
anyone have RT gpu rendering on a 580 gtx(with quadro drivers) yet? Mine is not.
I can’t get the RT module working at all if I have Open CL enabled on my GTX 570.
RT does work with CPU rendering, but that defeats the point of a video card like this. Also, no matter what form of IPR rendering I use with Vray 2.0, I always get a status message displaying “// Warning: [SettingsPNG] No image writer specified.”
I should also mention that when IPR rendering with Vray in CPU mode, my NURBS objects don’t render for some reason. With standard renders (non-IPR) they do.

Physical cam just work in IPR render, but not in the final one. This means this is useless and this version is bugged.
Seriously.. You people need to buy the software. It’s totally worth the price. The best renderer out there. Period. If you buy the software you get access to nightly builds with new features added all the time. You can’t beat it!!! Vlado wants your money!!!!
Yes, I know it’s a great tool and I bet we all would really want to recognize (pay) the developers of Vray. But I, for instance, have not yet been able to squeeze capital with it; learning takes some time and developing a workflow does too.
Additionaly, in some countries the investment culture is very weak (except in exploitation business). People are expendable and so, investors are used to release money only after a few persons can get out through hell. Hopefully this broken late tool, togheter with obscenely overpriced hardware, can yet be usefull and soon we can buy brand new tools and live in synergy with capitalism and superpopulation semi-paradox.

I already own a V-Ray licence but stuff the Dongle idea for a joke. I’ll pirate V-Ray because I’m too lazy to bring the Dongle home from work :)
