  1. Thanks for the upload. For me Maya 2010 is the release that is pushing me to 3DS Max. Sad day. Been with Maya since 2.5. Oh well, it hasn’t seen good development since it was owned by Sun. Autodesk – what a bunch of assholes! Killing a gem.

    • wow and i was going to start learning maya with this release. been with max since it was a DOS app. I thought Maya was the real pro tool of choice. Is that not the case anymore? not being a maya user i have not seen how it has/has not developed over the years.

      • Did I write Sun? Sorry, SGI.

It was the top dog. 3DS Max was considered a mid range program (like lightwave) for game developers, with a midrange price. Softimage 3D was bought by Microsoft and left to die (they bought it for some scheme they had but never implemented). SGI created Maya from the ground up to be the next gen Power Animator. It had little following back than – most pros wanted to stay with Softimage 3d because they knew it(just like the dos people fought the move to windows). Things changed fast. Every release brought about some amazing new features – artisan, paint effects, fluids, global nurb patching – they were the only ones with a separate research and development team. Not only that but they droped the price from $60,000+ to below that of Max (whose low price point was its key to fame) Maya’s only weekness was considered to be its render which changed when renderman freed up its contract with Softimage. SGI sold Maya to an investment firm – why? – and that was start of the downward spiral. It no longer saw jaw dropping updates and now that it belongs to Autodesk who will sell it for less than their 3DS Max I doubt it ever will. It still is the best all rounder, in my opinion, built in an open way to allow the user to do anything given time and knowledge. But for a CG artist wishing to build, animate, and render quickly – Max seems to getting the ease of use/ simplicity updates.

        • Sad to hear that from you ttboy. I can share my humble experience. I?ve been using maya since it?s first Maya 1.0 version. And I?ve been teaching Maya for more than 6 years now. Almost all of my students come from 3d Max, and they still get amazed by Maya. I really must disagree with you in your comments. I still think it?s the best 3d application nowadays. I?ve used XSI for a year too, and still happy to stick with Maya. It is true that the past years, there hasn?t been any substancia improve. It gets me mad to see that Autodesk is realising a new version every year, with no true new features, and charging it like it is brand new. But still, Maya?s is the best choice for feature films, television and advertising. Cheers!

            • Do you guys know about that upcoming SpaceClaim 3D package? Its going to use a multi-touch display to control the UI. I think its a big step in the 3d designing world..

    • hi guys…whenever i install maya 2010 it shows no error… but after installation i dont see any icon n when i check program files it shows nothing…i am using windows vista 32bit….and before that i was using maya 2009 without any problem….plz help me guys…pls pls…

  2. I still use Maya 7. It was the last version that Alias made before Autodesk bought them.

All my stuff works reasonably well with it. And its good enough for the level of work I do. I tried all the other versiona, but for some reason or another I always go crawling back to maya 7.0.

There is something really souless about Autodesk.
Alias were a great company and until my level of work and plugins require anything more, I will stick with Maya 7. And I hope the upcoming V-ray supports it.

    • hey bro i feel you on that one i just download it maya 2010 and it sucks compared with alias maya 7 am used to that one as well i been trying to look for it but i cant find it … do you knw a way i can get it on the internet for free like you could 3 years ago ?

  3. ttboy: “For me Maya 2010 is the release that is pushing me to 3DS Max”
Well, if you really going to leave Maya then I suggest (and this is for everyone else) to move away from Autode$k… I mean, cmon man…max???
For all the other things you mentioned I agree with you…its sad…

      • Bullcrap.. Max is good enough dude!!
I’ve using Max for 2 years now. Whenever you seek for tuts, you’ll see that the most are for Max!!
And the same goes for the plugin.. You can’t deny that there are hundreds or more plugins which are available for Max exclusively.

  4. Man, you forgot three parts of zips in
    AUTODESK_MAYA_V2010_WIN32-XFORCE
Dont waste my time. A zip in a rar in a zip in a rar in a basket. Garbbage.

  5. Without AutoCAD never of this would has happened! Blame on AutoCAD!

  6. i havent touched it yet but whats so bad about it? it looks like they just merged it with toxic

    • For d3dx9_36.dll you should go to the microsoft download pages and get either the redistributable or the web installer for dx9, on vista it will run alongside dx10. After installing it your problem should be no longer :), at least it worked for me (64bit version)

  7. look when I unzip the file for this setup saying this: this file does not come in the download C: \ Documents and Settings \ Aloizio \ My Documents \ Setup \ 2010 Maya \ New Folder \ AUTODESK_MAYA_V2010_WIN32-XFORCE \ m2010w32.r00
    please help me?

  8. many thanks for the upload, but the x64 version is rubbish. Let’s try to practice tidy compression next time.

Anyone else having issues with the installer getting interrupted?

  9. Tried both the 32 and 64 bit version. Both empty packages. Also tried to view the docs and yet again an empty package. HOAX.

  10. downloaded tried.. i suspect this is the demo cracked or something it lacks all the toxic plugins best i can tell. no backburner. i serously doubt it is a full install

  11. Not a hoax, just badly organized. I am thinking the poster isn’t messing up the archives on purpose. What he is doing is driving people away from Maya so they try Max.

Heh, I prefer this conspiracy theory over the fact that he can’t properly manage his shit.

    Cheers!

PS if OP was just having a bad day, thanks for the effort of uploading the newest Maya for us.

  12. Serious don’t waste people time by posting
this crap. Zip with in a zip this is a joke. I agree
my guess is this is just a demo copy that some one
snaged and craked. Take this crap down and wait until
the official release. Oh and for all those that want to switch
to max please do so that software Is for amatures and is a dog.
And of course you’ll switch Now after autodesk has been ripping
of all the great features Maya and putting them in max. Oh autodesk sucks and in my heart this is still an alias soft ware. Get that story straight to sgi was a computer company that is not around. Maya and it’s
big brother studio tools was developed by alias a company in Canada. Maya was never 60000 that was studio tools. sgi was just the hard ware that was able to run the software at the time.

  13. Splash.dll error at start-up and no Toxic plugin too. Something’s wrong here.

    • Hi,

Dis =you get the splash.dll problem fixed, I have the same issue. I tried copying one from 3dsmax but then it seems happy but claimed there was another dll missing.

If I keep pressing ok it does seem to load and work though! I am using 64bit BTW.

      • The same happens to me, please, if someone knows how to fix it, tell us!!

        Thx ;)

        • I have searched everywhere and can’t find a solution. tried copting one but nothing. Installed several times and still nothing.

          • Search in google Splash.dll, download and put in maya folder, works fine for me!, here is where you can download: http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files_new.php/dllfiles/S/Splash.dll/2,1,1,32/download.html

this error is because you probably have 3dmax an maya install together.

    • Hey guys, I was having that “Splash.dll” error everytime Maya was starting up. This worked for me: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=13937843&linkID=9242258

      Hope this helps somebody!

  14. Installer gets interrupted at the last leg, adlm or something. Why the eff do people put rars inside rars that are inside rars?

  16. hi guys?whenever i install maya 2010 it shows no error? but after installation i dont see any icon n when i check program files it shows nothing?i am using windows vista 32bit?.and before that i was using maya 2009 without any problem?.plz help me guys?pls pls?

  17. Guys, I can’t install the program. My system is windows vista 32 bit. When the installation is about to finish then it says: the WIZARD WAS INTERRUPTED so the installation can’t be continued.
    Have any solution?
    Thanks in advanced.

  18. hi spike…i had the same problem but now i have solved it….You MUST disable UAC in windows user accounts. During installation MAYA needs to integrate
into system and UAC prevents it from doing this. Thats it.
    Hope it will work.:)

    • Yep, that’s always a problem with installing stuff in Vista. If it gives funky errors, you have to right-click the installer and choose ‘Run as Administrator’.

That’s if you can get over the trust issue. heh heh.

  19. whoever compacted the rars is jsut a kid wannabe oldschool

  20. hi,everyone
    i got problem.
i install this maya 2010,good working.
for some reasons,i uninstall maya 2010 but can’t.
    what’s wrong..
can someone tell me why plz.

    • I had the same problem wanted to uninstall the software just as a test. But it errors out and I cannot remove it. This is a bit scary.

      • I have your fix. It works for windows XP – 7. I tested it on all of them. What you need to do is modify your registry. There is one key in particular to fix.
        [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\Adlm\Autodesk\Maya\2010\AdLM]
        Set the value to “Type”=dword:00000001

        Now try to uninstall.
I found that it is a problem in their trial software that autodesk doesnt care about.

  21. Okay thanks rajeev and morituriMax, but now my problem is that d3dx9_36.dll was not found. Should I download the dll or download the other MAYA 2010??

  22. Well, I’ve solved the problem. I downloaded the dll.
    Thank u so much guys.

  23. After installing it asks for a d3dx9_39.dll at first launch, I downloaded and copied the file in Maya2010/bin but it did not work. I even installed complete Directx9 in my DX10 Vista 64 machine still asking for the bloody file, what can I do??

  24. why i can run mental ray in DBR render?
    maya dont get de ner
some one have experiencia in DBR render?

  25. i have the same problem with this dll (d3dx9_39.dll ) on my DX10 vista 64. Any solution ?

Is there here someone that install succesfully maya 2010 on a vista 64 ?
    If yes How?
    i don’t find any solution :(

  26. What did it said tinball? U should have ur maya run if u have copied the dll file in the maya bin.
And for the DBR render I have no idea at all lol.

    • For me putting the dll file in this location doesn’t help anymore :(
Can you explain me what you to on your 64 to have it working ?

you uninstall then restart and reinstall etc …

i do this (don’t wan’t to uninstall so oblige to play with the regedit – i don’t like so much this)

one thousand thanks to who find the solution:(

  27. Oh I forgot one thing, ensure that u disable the UAC, so the installation can run successful.

  28. I,ve found this on the net, it seem to install maya 2010 is like to go to play money in a casino :)

go to control pannel and turnoff uac.
unrar maya 2010 64bit and write to it dvd.
    install from directly dvd.
after installing if u r unable to open due to not found d3dx9_39.dll file,
update direct x from microsoft site.
    after updating it will work.
    enjoy it.
after success, please inform me to my id

    installed maya 2010…working great……….

try again and again until u succed…….
dat?s y advise to all those who had same problem.!!!! gud luck…..

  29. These versions of Maya 2010(32 and 64) are incomplete. Theres no backburner, that now are supported in Windows, Linux, and mac. Theres no mental ray satellite.
Hope an ISO will appear soon with a full version.Anyway, thanks for all the links.

  30. For all those discussing Max/Maya… both packages are clearly outdated. Since Autodesk have aquired them (Maya from SGI and 3DS from Kinetix) a lot of the additions that were added were packages from 3rd party vendors. This has greatly affected workflow, up to a point i didnt feel i could work effectively anymore. This will prove to be the undoing of Autodesk, i’m sad to say.

Two years back i switched to Modo, which provides me with almost all the tools i need for modeling, sculpting, painting and rendering. Might be worth a look if you’re wondering which package to use at this moment :)

    • Please Guys get this story straight Maya was not owned by SGI. Maya was owned by Alias. “Maya is a high-end 3D computer graphics and 3D modeling software package originally developed by Alias Systems Corporation, but now owned by Autodesk as part of the Media and Entertainment division.” It is true that the SGI purchased Alias in 1995 this was way before maya. Sgi went under and Alias was acquired by.Later, Alias|Wavefront was renamed Alias. “In 2003, Alias was sold by SGI to the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan and the private equity investment firm Accel-KKR. In October 2005, Alias was sold again, this time to Autodesk, and on January 10, 2006, Autodesk completed the acquisition and Alias Maya is now known as Autodesk Maya.” Maya although owed by SGI they were not the developers they were just finical backing. This differs from autodesk who came in wiped out the Alias name and turned it into autodesk. As I have said those who want to go use max please do so as that software has been ripping off all of maya cool features since it came to autodesk. The fact still remains you will never see a big studio start to use Modo so go that way if you like. Maya was not meant for people at home to make nice little pictures it is an app with an emense amount of power and under the hood capabilities. For me this will always be an alias software as autodesk has done very little to the software as of recent. Oh and the Toxik stuff it is not built inot maya there is just a seamless work flow between the two and when you get maya it comes for free now as an add on choose to install or not but it does not affect the completeness of maya. Everyone should cry Alias has been officially omitted no more FLex LM just a key gen all icons are black instead of that traditional red. Having said that seems to run quite stable and vector rendering is now 64bit.

  31. >>GD
Totally true, buddy! I think Modo 401 is the way to go these days. I’m doing stuff in 2 hours, which normally took me a whole working day on max/maya. Would appreciate if we would get more Modo related posts on CG Persia.

    • What is your area in 3d?
      Modeling? Texturing?

I am asking this because i think 2 hours for a days work is a very big improvment on the workflow.

I wanted to change to modo but I work in architectural visualization and i dont thinkthat modo is the best tool for the job, because the compability of files, autocad and especially revit wich saves me a LOT of work.

I am wrong or can have the same compatibility in modo?
      Thanks in advance.

  32. Hi guys, I had the same problem with de d3dx9_39.dll, and I can’t solve this problem.
I had re-installed DirectX many and many times, and the error message keep appearing try to put a downloaded dll on my system folder but the the error keep happening. I tried to run as administrator, run in compatibility mode, but all tries without successes. I?m using windows server 2008.If someone have the same problem and solve it or know what is going on tell me. Thanks in advance.
    Cheers Passaro

  33. hey again.
Anyone uninstall this maya 2010 32 bit, after installing?
I install this maya 2010,good working
    BUT
I cannot delete this maya cuz pop up “1: 5 2: unable to obtain
    LicenseType value,RequeryvalueEx returned 3: 2” error.
and after deleting, opening maya 2010,Licsense error appears.
I cannot unistall or install this maya.

    help me plz.

      • Me too, can’t uninstall, same error message, if anyone could help it’d be much appreciated! Can’t even modify or repair it!

  34. Keep getting this error at the end of the installation,
    1: 5 2: Failed to install/uninstall the anchor service. 3: 1007

    Anybody knowing a solution??

  35. ok
i’ve found the solution for d3dx9_39.dll.

download on microsoft.com the following file ( only this on)

    Nom du fichier: directx_mar2009_redist.exe
    Version: 9.26.1590
    Date de publication : 17/03/2009
    Langue: Fran?ais
    Taille du t?l?chargement: 92.4 Mo

when you launch the installer, he will ask you where you want to deploy these files -> browse to c:/windows/system32/
    execute.

go to system32 folder to look for d3dx9_39.dll, there’s many chance that you don’t find it :) but in some stupid situation do the following
take the d3dx9_38.dll and copy and paste in the same folder.

Now rename d3dx9_38.dll copy en d3dx9_39.dll> that’s all.
now you can launch maya 2010 without re-installing it 9 (in my case)

    • Well congrats Didier,
      Anyway i’m using win 32 not 64.
      Congrats dude.

    • Hi,
      don’t have any word…many many thanks…
for me work on Vista Ultimate x64 ! ! !
but, for other users, i’ve modify the d3dx9_36.dll in d3dx9_39 file,
      because i don’t find d3dx9_38 file ! ! !
      Boh!!!
      Thanks Didier !!!

      • It IS in C:\Windows\System32 (for x86) and C:\Windows\SysWOW64 (for x64)

        IF you update your DirectX!!!!!

You can find it on M$ site

  36. It shows some dll file is missing (d3dx9_36.dll).I’m using win xp 64.

    • go to microsoft and check the different update for your system. don’t take the full update because they don’t put all the files in. only check the different release of directX 9

  37. OK, what I did wrong before done was fixed. Just to be sure,
    Download the torrent file(x64)
    https://cgpersia.com/torrents/cgpersia.com_Autodesk_Maya_2010_(win64)_XFORCE.torrent

Unzip the zipped files(download with torrent) into one new folder(name it e.g SubFolder1)
Unzip the files in SubFolder1 to a new folder(name it subfolder2)
Then unzip the files in subfolder2 to a new folder(name it subfolder3)
You should find a Maya folder. Open it.
    Install the .msi file.
After installation completes, you should have Maya working on your PC.
Once again, this only works for the x64 torrent provided by cgpersia.

  38. 3ds max 2010 + Thinking Particles 3+ CAT 3 + Afterburn + rayfire + Final Render + Mudbox = The finest most perfected 3d tool known to mankind.

Autodesk is an amazing company. Sure its name is tasteless and inept but its a house packed with Passionate Intelligent Social Simians. Or PISS for short.
