Well let me add my comments. I followed all the instruction, but kept getting the license problem when trying to start the Maya plug in – fatal error etc. I tried various things, disconnected from internet etc, but nothing worked.
I finally ran the create license keygen again (but did not patch files) and found a “pixar.license” in the 5.0.2 folder where I had only found (I think) a “license” file before. Anyway, I put this file in the “C:\Program files\Pixar\RenderMan-Studio-1.0.1-(your version of maya)\rmantree\etc” folder, started Maya, and plug in works fine.
I tested it with hair and works fine. I did copy the shaders as suggested above post. Works fine with internet connected also.

in post 102, Keiron said he tried to crack renderman studio in OSX. Does he even have the installation files to install renderman in OSX? Now that the crack is out for Linux, perhaps it is similiar to crack it for OSX, but we need the installation files. Does anyone have them? That would be much appreciated. Thanks

for OSX users:
– for crack the osx version connect the mac with one pc
– from pc, navigate into Applications/Pixar/RenderMan_Studio
– copy the keygen into the Renderman OSX folder.
– run keygen from pc
– generate the license file (it works because it can read the correct folder path)
– that’s all

no fabio it doesn’t work, since the license file still puts in the host id of the PC and not the mac, so either we need a real crack or – start saving up some real $
the problem is the license.exe patch … it must be changed in license .app…if anyone can recompile the keygen for osx…
If you happen to have windows installed on your mac, do it from there, and the host id is the same. I just need the RMS installation files for mac os x to try it. Does anyone have it? PLeaseeee….

Well after a week of trying to get renderman for maya working, followed 116 post by Zas TO THE LETTER!
And works like a charm.
My hats off to Zas, this is the hardest plugin I have ever tried to get to work and Zas was the man.

this version is for i686 (machine with SSE2), can not be run on Athlon which is only SSE.. do you guys have the i386 version?

Missing Shaders. Does anyone have a patch to the missing shaders. I’ve Grabbed the additional ones from post #108.
For most of the shaders in the Slim, the shaders in: Attachable>Surfaces are visable, however when you click on the preview icon to Compile, it Errors. This is for all the lights and surface shaders, ie: Blinn, Delux, spot
couldn’t execute “shader”: no such file or directory
ERROR: GetRIB – Error in BuildShader: Shader not compiled

I followed post #116 to the T and I cannot render more than one frame.
That is with RFM
When I try to render ANYTHING with Alfred, it says it cannot find the rib file….even though it does exist in the same directory it tells me it is looking that it can’t find.
Can anyone else confirm they have the same trouble?
