How to Create Epic Landscapes in Vue|252mb
For those of you who don\’t already know, Vue is a 3d app specifically designed for creating natural 3d environments of epic proportions. In this tutorial, we will take a look at the basics, and then cover some handy techniques for creating huge landscapes could be used in both films or matte paintings. We will explore almost every major function of the app, but condense it enough that it can be easily understood in one sitting.

That scene could be much better with a halfway decent atmosphere. And I don’t know what kind of clouds he used, but it looks way too flat. Some Spectral 2 Cumulus with adjusted altitude, detail, and altitude variation would look much better. And I never saw if he went into the lighting tab, but if he wasn’t already, I’d recommend using Global Radiosity and play with the sky dome lighting gain along with the intensity to brighten up the side up the closer mountain and trees.
Also, I’m not really sure if mountain (2nd closest) really fits in with the other 2 landmarks which are only plateaus. I would also change the fog settings. But I’m just being picky here, it’s supposed to be an introductory tutorial so none of what I said needs to be in it anyway (although it should).
Sweet. So wheres the link to your tutorial?
WHeres your tutorial?
Err.. No offense. Despite the fact that most things Darkside said seem alrite to me. But in VUE there are many ways to accomplish similar things. This guy is showing his method. Every tutorial writer does the same. So I would suggest Darkside to present his method in a tutorial. That will be better.
As far as aesthetic criticism is concerned, I don’t agree. This near “mountain is not a mountain its actually the same type plateau. Perspective can be improved by improving the composition. I also want to say that i jut saw Darkside’s “Top of the World” in which Palm trees (the most familiar VUE asset) is right on top of mountain peak far above clouds. That makes NO sense to me at all.
Thats why I always say that CGI is not to acheive “realism” We try to make things “believable”, “authentic” and “cool”. Hence I will like both images , Darksides’ top o the world and this guy’s this image.
again No offense// cheerz

It appears that a portion of the hyperlinks in the footer are broken. You might want to look around really quickly to work out what is going on there.
