The new V-Ray build supports both 32-bit and 64-bit OS.
Added New Feature in V-Ray 1.50 SP4 is V-Ray Ambient Light.
It includes several modified features:
– Improved multithreading on multi-core machines;
– Ability to specify gizmo falloff for VRayEnvironmentFog;
– Ability to use arbitrary meshes as gizmos for VRayEnvironmentFog;
– Option to exclude the background from VRayEnvironmentFog;
– Added CIE sky models to the VRaySun and VRaySky;
– It is now possible to submit DR servers list for DR through backburner;
– Added option to not use area speculars in the VRayIES light;
– Added Kelvin temperature settings for the color of VRayLights;
– VFB history is now turned off when 3ds Max is in slave mode;
– Output .vrimg and split channel paths are listed in the Asset Tracker;
– GI cache files (irradiance maps, light cache etc) are listed in the Asset Tracker.
The complete list with the improvements of the existing features can be found in the changelog file, which is a part of the installation.

So far the only decent, fast and working release without any watermarks is SP2. SP3 hasn’t even been fully fixed at all, so I sincerely doubt that this one is any better.
I will give you a hint: V-Ray is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to crack. It uses an advanced hardware dongle.
Vray 1.5 SP2 was never cracked, only the demo – this is why there is no demo since SP3 – so no crack for that. Same with SP4. Take an advice: Learn Mentalray, its better than vray, just a bit more complex at start, which later is a good thing.
Mental is Mental… is in 3ds max, maya, softimage, etc… if autodesk wants vray a long time ago they would buy it with shoes and all…
My advice is simple: Maxwellrender.
Need crack to run perfectly. Long live to VRay!
I just love those bashing comments advising people to change their render engines. I don’t get why people bother to come in here and say that kind of stuff.
Agreed with omega. Mr is great. but not for the lazy. And that’s the reason why mental ray is used in production films rather than vray. Moreover it’s free for us.(until maya or 3dsmax use some advanced license security). :)
For the same scene
Vray – Setup the render in 5 minutes and wait for 12 hours to render out.
Mr – Setup in 2 hours and wait 1 hour to render out.
Personally I am a hardcore mr user. I tested vray. And I never want to switch to vray.

Maxwell is crap….
installed but i read SP3a, not SP4 and the rendering is toooo slow…
only if i set 1,0 in the smc “adaptive quality” (default is 0,85) i can have a speeder render, but without a big quality…… this render engine is very bad…

Vray is the sluttiest program around, it gets its fingers in every pie and leaves it’s ORIGINAL product 3D MAX !!! in the dark..

ie: studios working professionals and freelancers.
Theres no point for a guy like myself to shell 20k $ on this softwares when i only use them from time to time to experience and learn while not doing anything commercial.
Even the educational license of V-Ray (220?) costs 4 times as much as
Max, Maya, Mudbox, Motiobuilder, Softimage and Sketchbook TOGETHER ( 60? )!!

did a very light scene and tried to render, sun+sky, 1 basic material, vray-plane, blabla.
lightcache+irradiance (500 + medium).
lightcache (500 samples) takes 3 minutes on core2duo 2.66ghz (sucks.slow!)
irradiance same sht.
ergo: buy vray – and yes, its not SP4 but SP3a!!!!!
or: switch to blender+yafray!!!!!!!!
viva opensource!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
