WHAT IS EVOLVE?
solidThinking Evolve allows industrial designers to develop forms faster, using either Windows or Mac OS X. It enables you to capture an initial sketch, explore styling alternatives, and visualize products with realistic renderings generated in real time. Evolve provides organic surface modeling and parametric control, with NURBS-based surfaces and solids and a unique ConstructionTree history feature. It frees designers from the constraints of engineering-oriented CAD tools, while allowing the export of digital models required by others in the product development process.

The following features have been added or improved for solidThinking Evolve? version 2016:

User Interface and Workflow
Translate, Rotate, and Scale
The parameters in the Control Panel for the Translate, Rotate, and Scale tools have been simplified.
Snaps
Two new point snaps have been added: Snap to Intersections and Snap to Midaxis.
Camera Controls
The camera controls are now displayed by default. Click Show/hide camera icons to hide them.
The camera position can be locked using the new Lock Camera icon located above the camera controls, along the right side of each modeling view.
Console
Spacebar and Enter usage has been unified so that either key can be used to accept Console input for all tools.
Snapshot
A snapshot of the current model can be taken using the Snapshot icon located along the right side of each modeling view.
Image Browser
The Renderings Browser has been renamed the Image Browser because it now displays snapshots in addition to final renderings. It now supports image panning and zooming, and contains file and rendering information for rendered images.
Control Panel
The Control Panel has been redesigned so that parameters are grouped together more clearly.
Curve Plot
The color of the Curve Plot has been changed from white to gray to improve visibility.
Default Theme
The default theme has been updated to a lighter color palette to improve visibility.
Background Image
Interactive handles have been added to the Background Image tool, allowing you to translate and rotate reference images directly in the modeling views.
Open Folder in Finder (Mac)
On Mac, you can now determine the location of an open file by holding down the Command key and clicking on the file name in the title bar of the application.
