It doesn’t work, no materials in mat net, errors when adding lights or clicking on shelf tools

Now? Nothing. I don’t know who made the Houdini releases but there is a fact: msi’s releases were more stable and fully working no matter platform and version. In short: No Msi – No (fully working)Vray
It works:
1) download the zip archive http://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/VRAYHOUDINI/Installation+from+zip
2) set according to the instructions (Windows) to deploy V-Ray using the ZIP archive instead of the installer:
-Unzip the V-Ray for Houdini archive
-Move it to a location of your choice (e.g. “D:\V-Ray”)
-Place the “vray_for_houdini.json” file under “$HFS/packages”
-Edit the “vray_for_houdini.json” and set the “INSTALL_ROOT” variable to point to the location of the V-Ray files (e.g. “INSTALL_ROOT” : “D:/V-Ray”
-treat with a file from this upload
-Start Houdini
