In this series of tutorials, we will learn how to create a shot composite from start to finish. This
course will take you through all of the things that you need to know to get started creating beautiful
and realistic composites in After Effects.

We begin with simply learning how to move around in After Effects and what the most important parts of the interface are. We then move onto bringing assets into our project panel and moving through the layer based compositing workflow. We do everything in this shot from crashing a helicopter, to setting it on fire, to giving the shot a cinematic feel like you see in a movie. You’ll also learn how to track, rotoscope, and create a difference matte among other countless valuable skills.

Whether you are a total beginner, or you know a little bit about After Effects but want to brush up on your skills, this is the course for you. By the end of this course, you will have an amazing new skill and you will have learned some valuable things if you are going to become a serious and professional compositor.

In this After Effects tutorial we will learn how to key a greenscreen using multiple layers to capture as much detail as possible. Using multiple layers and keyers, we will be able to focus our efforts and create a better final matte. We will begin the tutorial by importing our footage into After Effects and analyzing the job ahead of us. Then we will create garbage masks to break apart our person into manageable pieces. We will then add Keylight effects to our layers to create an initial key. After that, we will analyze the best way to remove noise on each layer. Then we will fill in our alpha by creating a core matte. Finally we will focus on the hair and all the detailed roto and keying work involved. We will complete the project by doing some heavy-duty rotoscoping work on the bottle.
