Known issues:
(*) When rendering a 3dsmax Raytrace material applied on VRayProxy objects, V-Ray will crash; removing the Raytrace material prevents the crash;
(*) Instancing a group inside a ParticleFlow system may cause a crash, if the original group is rendered as well; hiding the instanced group prevents the crash;
Bug fixes:
(*) “Affect shadows” and “Affect alpha” options did not work for VRayMtls inside a Multi/subobject material (RC3 bug);
(*) Moving VRayPhysicalCamera caused spurious MacroRecorder events about the target distance changing;

(*) Distributed rendering between mixed 32/64-bit V-Ray versions did not work properly;

(*) Color corrections from the V-Ray VFB were applied to the alpha channel when splitting the render channels to files;

(*) Textures with mapping channels greater than 1 are now correctly shown in the Material Editor;
(*) The “Global light level” options from the Environment dialog now affect the color of VRayLights and standard 3dsmax lights;

(*) If “Render to raw image file” option for the V-Ray VFB was ON, but the file name is empty, V-Ray would freeze while rendering;
(*) The parameters of VRayMtlWrapper did not have proper names in Track View;
(*) If the primary GI engine was light cache or photon map but GI is turned off, standard materials would render black;
(*) VRayMtl materials with low glossiness inside a VRayBlendMtl could produce polygonal artifacts on shadow/light boundaries;
(*) The pixel aspect ratio from the Render Scene dialog was ignored when rendering with DR to the 3dsmax VFB;
(*) A low-dynamic range 3dsmax frame buffer was used even when saving to a high-dynamic range file format (.exr, .hdr etc);
(*) Problems when rendering animations in DR mode with light cache as both primary and secondary engine;
(*) Small rectangle area lights could produce artifacts for points lying close to the light plane;
(*) Somewhat better memory management for proxies and dynamic meshes;
(*) Crashes with VRayFur on animated objects when using motion blur;
(*) Incorrect environment color with several VRayLights in “dome” mode;
(*) “Crop” render mode with the V-Ray VFB did not work for animations;
(*) Sporadic crashes when using the “Camera Map Per Pixel” texture inside V-Ray materials (VRayMtl, VRayLightMtl etc);
(*) VRayBmpFilter did not always display its bitmap texture successfully;
(*) VRayBmpFilter could produce invalid colors;
(*) Photon mapping could produce wrong GI on transparent surfaces;
(*) Crashes with interpolated glossy reflections/refractions if there is only 1 sample in the interpolation map;
(*) Irradiance map produced incorrect results when used with VRayLight in “Light portal” mode;
(*) Faceting on low-poly geometry when using anisotropic reflections with UV-channel mapping;
(*) Incorrect sampling with gamma color correction when some of the pixel RGB components is zero;
(*) In 3dsmax 9, VRayMtlWrapper, VRay2SidedMtl, VRayOverrideMtl could crash when reset from the Material Editor;
(*) Some V-Ray materials (e.g. VRayMtl) did not reset when the “Reset” button from the Material Editor was used;
(*) The contents of the V-Ray VFB was not cleared regardless of the “Previous render” option in the System rollout;
(*) V-Ray sun could produce brighter highlights than is correct when its size multiplier is much greater than 1.0;
(*) Banding with very small spherical VRayLights;
(*) SSS with VRayMtl did not work properly with intersecting refractive objects;
(*) Problems with dome light and matte/shadow materials with GI on;
(*) VRayBlendMtl in additive mode produced incorrect alpha channel;
(*) VRayHDRI did not free is memory with the freeSceneBitmaps() MaxScript command;
(*) Crash when rendering disconnected Particle Flow events;
(*) In 3dsmax 9, clearing a texture in VRayMtl could cause a crash, if the texture is visible in the viewport;
(*) In 64-bit 3dsmax, the Dynamic raycaster memory spinner was still limited to 4096 MB;
(*) In some cases VRayFur did not render properly;
(*) Wrong mapping coordinates for VRayFur when motion blur was enabled;
(*) Incorrect velocity G-Buffer channel due to camera movement for scaled cameras;
(*) Distortion map for VRayToon had no effect;
(*) Light cache prefiltering ignored GI surface IDs;
(*) VRayLight’s appeared in reflections for objects excluded from the lights;
(*) Light cache files saved on 32-bit machines did not load properly on 64-bit machines and vice-versa;
(*) When rendering a high-resolution image with the “Hilbert” region sequence, V-Ray could crash;
(*) A light which had “Affect diffuse” option off still contributed to the diffuse lighting channels;
(*) When mass-editing V-Ray object or light properties, greyed out properties with different values across the nodes were incorrecly applied to the nodes;
(*) Area VRayShadows with Box type did not respect the rotation of the light;
(*) DR render slaves crashed when photometric Linear or Area lights were contained in the scene;
(*) VRayFastSSS displayed black in the viewports;
(*) VRImg2Exr tool gave error when converting large .vrimg files rendered in “region” mode;

(*) When rendering animations with DR, slaves faster than the client machine could fail to contribute to some of the frames;
(*) Using RoyalRender client as a service caused a wxWidgets error when no-one is logged on the machine;

Hello I’ve been having problems with the saving of files with this version also, it always says that is been saved with an older version and its been saved with this one, it also changes the render settings that were used before saving, witch means each time i open a file i have to go change the settings like the dmc values or antialising filters again.
has anyone found a solution for this?

Install max 9/2008
then…
1.install V-ray and choose the max 2008 destination.
(mine = C:\3ds max 2008\ )
2.choose the V-ray plugin destination (i created a folder called V-ray in the max 2008 destination.
(eg. C:\3ds max 2008\V-ray\ )
3 opened up the folder called asp (its the folder inside the .rar file) & i copied all the files one by one into
C:\3ds max 2008\
& C:\3ds max 2008\V-ray\ destinations.
(make sure that you always copy over another file!!!!)

in the new version for Max2008 x64 there is no vrayspawner for the distributed render . weird !!!

There seems to be a problem loading vray 1.5r3 on windows vista home edition as all the extras are lost in the interface…i.e there is no vraysun, vrayfur, vraysssi mats etc.
Is there a plugin to fix this or do i have to do something with the plugin ini file to correct this??

This version say’s that ” Vray 1.5 SP1 For 3dsmax 9-2008 (Update)” but when i install in my XP SP2 and 3dsmax 2008 – it appears as “Vray DEMO 1.5.17” on the VRay about panel. is this the full version of the 1.5.17 or just real DEMO? please post a picture of your vray about if it say Vray Advance 1.5.17 SP1. and not a demo.

I formated Vista and installed all things clearly.
I used Vray 1.50 R3 for max8

After spending plenty of time testing many different versions of vray with 3ds8/9/2008 I an stuck.
I always use the 32-Bit versions on XP.
Every version i use and i did a test-render on it (archinteriors cd9/scene3) takes about 73! hours of rendering…
Thats not normal and i’m saying the cracks are not working…
So is there a vray version that’s working with V9 german?

ok guys listen . the latest FULL working version of vray cracked is vray 1.50 RC5 . Everything beyond that is pretty much demo cracked . Demo cracked means is limited to reset the antialias values after restart . Nevertheless the latest version does not have vray spawner for net render . The previous one with SP1 has network render problems . So the latest working version is vray RC5 . ;-)

VRay does work in Vista and it uninstalls with no problems too. But sorry to say that this version will be watermarked,

i follow all settings posted before like installing demo and installing rc5, and next overwrite file and it works good it seems, AND this kinda of installation has got ALL VRAY CAPABILITIES..so.. i only can say thanks from italy to admin and elman
ps: just a last note.. are you able to give us, the final adv vray version, that doesn’t need all this isntall passes but only one installation and one patching metod???

I am using 3ds max9 32bit and i installed vray adv 1.5 rc3 but i got an error when i tried to render using vray, the error is “couldnt obtain a license” what can i do about it? where can i get a license? I also tried to copy/paste the crack cgauth60.dll and vrlserver to the vray’s folder but it still wont work. Even the keymaker that comes along with the crack”files” doesnt work. Now that i pasted those crack i now have cgauth60.dll and cgauth90.dll in vray’s folder. Is that how it should be? I still get the same error “couldnt obtain a license”.

Really nice site, I like it! Thanks for nice VRay 1,50 SP1 installation. But, it?s quiet pity, that this cracked demo of VRay doesn?t work with distributed rendering. Does anybody have some nice installation of cracked VRay with DR capability?

You need to open Startvrlserver.exe in chaos group folder
u’ve to do all the process that were listed some post ago, and next, after installation, launch vray spawner. it works, if on all computer’s u’ve got the same vray version.

The problem with the demo is that even if you you use the spawner from RC3 (or 4 or 5), the demo can’t save the first tab in render settings with AA sampler and filter. So the render slaves open the file without AA saved which means they render the image incorrectly.
The only way how to have a correct DR is to have a full version of VRay, not demo.
There is a full version of 64bit Vray 1.5 SP1 for 3dsmax 2008 (works for 3dsmax9 too!) here:

I was looking for a crack for the full 64bit version all over the net and all I could find was numerous links for cracked demo versions or the first 1.5 Final version without SP1 but only 32bit.
So I think there actually isn’t a crack for 64bit full version Vray.
Could please somebody make the crack or suggest the cracker of this demo to crack the full version too?
I know it’s a long shot but somebody has to say the crackers that cracking demo version is not the way to go! :-)
i have windows vista ultimate 64bit and 3d studio max 2008 64bit in my mac pro but i cant install vray ,until now i m trying many vary v. with many ways for installing but the same error is coming

I tried to start “launch Vray license server” but still i got an error when i first started it. It says “Invalid license: the lenght of the license is invalid. Make sure you have copied all of it properly and that you do not have any blanks in the beginning or at the end of the license, -20”. Then i clicked ok, then a license request form appeared containing this:
LICENSE REQUEST FORM
Copy and paste the ff. data and send it as an email to [email protected] to get your license.
