  1. Great! Now the obvious step is from Maya to Softimage. Because in going from crappy to awesome you have to go: 3dsMax -> Maya -> Softimage (the ultimate destination).

    • hey man. to be honest, I think that all that “softimage is for pro’s” thing is a bit overrated. I dont know a task that 3dsmax cant handle, but maya or softimage can. you just have to find the software you like. peace.

      • You’re deluding yourself if you think 3dsMax can handle anything Softimage can. Better look into what you can do with ICE in Softimage (just google) and then be amazed at how ignorant your post is.
Leaving the capabilities aside, the workflow in Softimage is 10x better. I’ve started 3d with 3dsmax and I know it pretty well and I wouldn’t go back to save my life.
There are two kinds of 3d artists: Softimage users and users that never tried Softimage.
(by “tried” I mean really complete something in it, not rotate a cube in the viewport for a minute)

    • hmm, I like 3ds max.
but the most important is, “something will be great, if in the right hands”.
… and not in your left hand. hahahaha :D

      oh, thanks for this post.

  2. Keep them coming, I’m learning Maya right now, and with my Max background this looks like a very nice help to speed up learning.
