It can be hard feeling completely lost when you already know the fundamentals and the software is the only thing getting in your way.
Pulling your hair out because your speed and process have been thrown out the door. Knowing what you want to create but getting nowhere trying to accomplish it.
Most tutorials for learning Maya are fundamentals video that are long and drawn out covering topics that you already understand your just looking for the information on how to transfer the skills you already have from working in 3ds max. The amount of time you spend trying to scan through tons of beginner videos to understand some of the more advanced techniques you might be using are overlooked or in some cases arent even available in Maya. This becomes irritating and wastes your time.
This video series is designed to get you up to speed inside of Maya and have you wondering why it ever seemed so hard to transfer between software in the first place. All of the main tools and techniques that are uses in everyday video game art development (modeling unwrapping and baking) will be explained and cross referenced to what you would use inside of 3ds max. So if your in need of getting up to speed inside of Maya for a new job position or are a student that is looking to increase his or her resume to become more attractive to employers this video series is just for you.

Great! Now the obvious step is from Maya to Softimage. Because in going from crappy to awesome you have to go: 3dsMax -> Maya -> Softimage (the ultimate destination).
hey man. to be honest, I think that all that “softimage is for pro’s” thing is a bit overrated. I dont know a task that 3dsmax cant handle, but maya or softimage can. you just have to find the software you like. peace.
You’re deluding yourself if you think 3dsMax can handle anything Softimage can. Better look into what you can do with ICE in Softimage (just google) and then be amazed at how ignorant your post is.
Leaving the capabilities aside, the workflow in Softimage is 10x better. I’ve started 3d with 3dsmax and I know it pretty well and I wouldn’t go back to save my life.
There are two kinds of 3d artists: Softimage users and users that never tried Softimage.
(by “tried” I mean really complete something in it, not rotate a cube in the viewport for a minute)
hmm, I like 3ds max.
but the most important is, “something will be great, if in the right hands”.
… and not in your left hand. hahahaha :D
oh, thanks for this post.
Thanks for upload.
Torrent plz :)
Keep them coming, I’m learning Maya right now, and with my Max background this looks like a very nice help to speed up learning.
Thanks, Unique!
