Hair Farm was designed and developed by Dr. Cem Yuksel, a Computer Graphics researcher at Texas A&M University, over the course of more than 6 years.
When Cem Yuksel first started the Hair Farm project, the available technologies in Computer Graphics for modeling, animating, and rendering hair were very limited and under-developed for producing a hair software that would fully satisfy an artist. Therefore, while he was writing Hair Farm, he also got engaged in a number of research activities and proposed various novel technologies required for a solid hair modeling, animation, and rendering software.
After 6 years of research and development, he managed to solve the last piece of the puzzle with his invention of Hair Meshes. This novel hair modeling approach is presented in SIGGRAPH Asia 2009 in the Technical Papers session, among some of the top Computer Graphics research works being published this year.

The new version has been re-written and is now a 64-bit, GPU-accelerated application that also incorporates node-based flowgraph architecture, something only previously available in PFMatchit. There are new tools for match-moving, scene preparation and image processing, so you can do new things like track deformable objects such as an actor?s face while speaking – neat.

Studios will appreciate the new fully-integrated Python scripting and workflow customisation tools, which give you access to the underlying metadata management core of PFTrack 2011 for easier integration within studio workflows.

In this release memory issue is fixed. But in near week or so maybe a better release of the same version will be – if it can be made better (now it increases memory usage for around 3mb per frame)

Meaning this release is cracked and dumps most data after each frame, but usually pools around 3mb per frame so it’s still not perfect.
