  1. It’s on youtube “Sculpt and paint a tree troll in Mudbox (1 of 21)”
can’t sum one upload the model only please?

  2. It’s already a torrent since last friday (thanks to “rocker”):D

    • It’s allready a torrent-?! :o I can’t find it, could you please post link-?! :)

      +respect for this one

      • My bad. It’s labeled as 3D World 141 Video Tutorials on CG Peers. Here’s the link:

        • I just remembered that someone posted “3D World Magazine Issue 141 (April issue with Rango on the cover) “…I’m usually not so interested in the DVDs…unless it’s something cool like this! The mudbox 2012 is much improved! (I’m sticking with zbrush though)….all tuts on painting textures are WIN:WIN! :D

  3. @Harvid: Yes, the model would be nice (if it’s supplied). Since I’m more interested in the texture painting side.

  4. Aren’t the Brush size/Opacity sliders in mudbox one of the best implementations out there? I wish zbrush had this kind of controls instead!

  5. People, you can get the 720p HD files right off Youtube:

No ned to fool with Filesonic and Fileshare’s fickle services.

  6. The model is not included in the torrent. Is it in the filesonic (etc) version? Wouldn’t be that hard to make my own, but just trying to save me some time.

  7. Model would be cool for reference purposes!!!

    CHEERS & THANKS
    MR H

  8. So….. does anyone have the base model??? the one to star with…

  9. Not trying to be rude here, but if you can’t model you’re own base mesh in Maya/Max then, no offense, you have no real reason to play around with Mudbox. Not trying to be snobbish, but that’s the way I see it.

    • Yeah I totally agree! The point of the lesson is to model and texture it. (unless you’re just interested in texturing in Mudbox)

    • I like Z the best but the weird workflow and interface put me off. Strange thing is that Mudbox won’t run on really low end graphics but Zbrush does and actually runs well. Never used 3D-Coat.

    • They are all good at what they do…I personally like 3D Coat and have only really got into it lately but the company really looks after the product and it’s users very well. Even my kids are using 3D Coat!!!

ZBrush is a great product but for me I find some aspects of it very complicated and confusing.

Mudbox I also like and since I use Maya and 3ds Max for modelling, it kind of makes sense to me!!

    • Zbrush is the winner for me, only because it has all of the workflow in one application. I don’t like that zbrush doesn’t have preset dropdowns like maya, etc for various things like rendering etc…you have to manually input them ALWAYS!!

Mudbox: I find it can’t reach the detail levels of zbrush (they always seem a little more lower resolution). The BIG bonus for mudbox is it has a 64-bit version which is SO fast! Zbrush please catch up!!!!!

3Dcoat: great new program that will make the other two developers really sit up and pay attention! It has a really nice retopology workflow! (something that the current release of TopoGun beats!)

  10. Hi Guys could someone upload the IK/FK switch .ma and .mel files. The magazine uploaded out there comes only with the videos. I really need those files to follow the tutor. Thanks a lot.
