Welcome to a deep dive into 3D character creation in Blender. We’ll craft a striking scene from scratch: a girl wielding a sword surrounded by a majestic dragon. A 20+ Hours Step by Step Tutorial including Resources
My name is Nikolay Naydenov, a 3D character artist with over 15 years of experience in the game industry. I’ve had the privilege of teaching over 22,000 students across various platforms, focusing on ZBrush, Blender, anatomy, and character creation.
In this course, we’ll begin by sculpting the character’s head, a foundational step in my process. We’ll then move on to the full body, where I’ll guide you through the intricacies of female anatomy. After that, we’ll create a beautifully detailed sword, focusing on crafting an intricate handle.
Next comes the dragon—a complex yet rewarding challenge. You’ll learn how to design its curved body and efficiently add scales using advanced techniques. Once the dragon is complete, we’ll move on to finer details like ropes, lighting, material testing, rendering, and turntable setup to bring the entire scene to life.
Based on a concept by Sora Kim, this course is one of the most detailed and challenging Blender projects I’ve ever taught. It’s designed for intermediate to advanced users, though ambitious beginners with patience are welcome to try it!
By the end of this course, you’ll have a stunning, fully rendered scene of a girl, her sword, and a dragon—all created with your own hands in Blender.
