Luxology Training Videos – The Alley
This two album series dives into how to harness modo?s modeling, painting and baking tools together in order to produce efficient assets for use in a game ? or any project where you want detailed and yet lightweight scenes. Our subject is a dingy back alley, the kind of place you might find behind an urban restaurant, complete with grime and graffiti?.a perfect setting for getting the most of modo.
The first album tackles the creation of a key low poly prop in the scene; a lowly dumpster. All of the details of this intricately molded form are faithfully reproduced in a subdivision surface model that is provided for you. Using this original model, Andy shows how detail can be transferred to a new low poly version of the model (that you create using supplied techniques) so that it can be liberally used throughout the level without worrying about breaking the geometry or texture budget. Geometric detail is transferred to a low poly object via normal map baking and subtle lighting is then given to the model?s nooks and crannies via ambient light occlusion baking. Additional modeling, 3D painting and baking operations let you add realistic final touches and variation to the finished trash bin.

Hey cool! I was just wondering how to work with normal maps in modo since the user guide modo comes with gives you absolutey no clue as to how to work with them.
This is a big help, thanks :-)
Truth be told, I was “salivating” when I saw this…
I saw it on modo’s site and I was banging my head because it costs money that I don’t HAVE!
I’m not rich…
Sincerely,
Thank you. :-)
Tons of corrupted file errors while unarchiving with several different unarchivers. Who the hell uses .rar anymore, is this 1999? Huge waste of time downloading from rapidshare. DOES NOT WORK. All I could extract were a handful of texture sheets and scene files. No tutorial video.
what else do you suggest except of rar?
There’s nothing amiss with the archives… everything is in there.. thanx for the post!
