In this series of tutorials, we will go through the process for rigging, animating, texturing, rendering, and compositing a morning news opener style motion graphics piece. We start out by creating a camera path that we can arrange our models around for a quick setup and flow of the piece. We learn how to create sweeps that move around our models for added emphasis, and we learn fast ways to get our camera pointing in the right direction along this complex path. After finishing our animations, we move onto briefly discussing our texture workflow. We then begin working in After Effects where we take the piece from looking good, to great, by adding a series of effects and color tweaks. This course is for you if you want to create a motion?graphics piece that takes the guess work out of your camera animation. By the end of this course, you will have your very own finalized motion graphic as well as a new knowledge on the workflow between CINEMA 4D and After Effects.

What you will learn
In this set of MODO animation tutorials we will learn the intuitive and fun animation tools of MODO. We’ll begin by exploring the animation interface followed by learning about animation preferences and settings and how to create key frames. In addition, we’ll learn how animations can be modified from MODO’s Timeline, Graph Editor, and Dope Sheet. Along the way we’ll also learn about how to edit animations on a motion path, animate a camera to follow a path, and how to save poses and actions for our animations. By the end, you’ll be equipped with an understanding of some really useful tools and features you’ll need to animate inside of MODO.

In this series of tutorials, we will go through the process of building and detailing a real-time crossbow using Softimage and Mudbox. When building 3D assets, the ability of your computer to manipulate those objects is limited, especially when dealing with very high resolution meshes. Because of this, we use 2D images, like normal maps, to simulate the high resolution detail in a way that we can more easily use. We’ll begin by building the base geometry for our crossbow in Softimage. Once the base geometry is modeled, we will detail and paint the weapon in Mudbox. To finish up, we will generate maps for the color and sculpted detail before viewing our crossbow in Marmoset Toolbag. When you are done, you will have a better understanding of the workflow involved in building and sculpting high resolution props and set pieces with Softimage and Mudbox and creating useable assets from them.

In this series of tutorials we are going to create a concept art based on simple 3D model render which we will enhance in Photoshop to a believable, apocalyptic environment. We will use various techniques that will?help to achieve coherent results that could also be applied to the creation of matte paintings. We will look at recreating lighting, introduction of damage to the elements of architecture, texturing in Photoshop, suggesting strong atmosphere with emphasis on depth cueing, and finally painting over using graphic tablet.

In this set of tutorials we will learn techniques for rigging quadrupeds in Maya. We’ll start by learning how to enhance the Flexi system, we created in Advanced Character Rigging in Maya, making it more robust for spines, necks, and areas of the like, while making sure to keep this modular component clean and animator- friendly. We’ll then build our creature’s skeleton from the ground, up, and learn how the Flexi rig can be easily inserted to save us a lot of time. We’ll also learn how to create a robust pose tracking system for driving corrective targets, as well as how to script a few tools with MEL to work faster. By the end of this course, you will have the skill set needed to rig your own quadrupeds with confidence.

To get started, we will learn how to bring in our two pieces of geometry and setup our MARI project. Next we will dive right into the Tri Planar Projection procedural layer inside MARI and learn how we can use it to?lay down a foundation of tiled rock texture for our terrain. From here we will begin to add various other layers of detail to our color map including a sandy beach, grass and vegetation as well as snowcaps for our?mountains. We will also learn how we can use masks and mask stacks to make our tiled procedurals feel a little more natural as they flow together. Throughout this course, we will being using a workflow that?applies a photographic base where we can through the use of MARI?s procedural layers but we will also be doing a good deal of painting. To wrap this course up, we will learn how we can use an adjustment stack to apply multiple adjustment layers, each to specific areas of a single procedural layer to give our vegetation a bit more variation in color. After completing this course, you will have a good idea how MARI can be used to texture terrain for both games or film.
