In this course we are going to create an organic and visually stunning shot using the modeling and dynamics tools in CINEMA 4D and After Effects. We will utilize CINEMA 4D’s hair dynamics to set up a web-like element, then integrate spline dynamics within the hair module itself. We will then composite our render passes into After Effects while integrating some of After Effects plug-ins. Finally we will achieve realistic lens effects that will give us a natural and flowing effect which will result in this serene, organic shot.

In this series of tutorials, we will talk about some of the things ZBrush artists need to know when working in Mudbox. ZBrush and Mudbox are powerful sculpting and painting applications that each have their own strengths. Sometimes an artist who has primarily worked in one application, ZBrush for instance, finds that they need to be able to work in another program. These artists know what they need to accomplish and how to finish their projects, but they just need to know the capabilities of the new application and where they can quickly find the tools and functions they’re looking for. So rather than going through a long introductory project, with a lot of basic information, we’ll cut straight to the information you need to start working quickly in Mudbox. We’ll talk about how Mudbox deals with geometry and look at its robust texture painting workflow. We’ll cover brush settings, UVs, sculpt layers, retopology, posing, and more. In the end you’ll be able to take your ZBrush knowledge and project and continue to work in Mudbox. Once you’re done with the course, if there are any tools or functions you’d like to know more about, you can go through any of the multiple Mudbox courses we have to get a deeper look.

What you will learn
The overall goal of this project is to learn how to create stylized textures and materials for games. This tutorial will focus on the creation of a vintage sign asset using multiple texturing techniques in Photoshop and ending with a real time version of the sign in game (UDK) with working materials for lights. Using this knowledge, you will be able to create your own assets and understand stylization when it comes to creating textures and establishing identity within game art.

This set of tutorials will guide you through an artist-friendly approach of using Python in Maya. We’ll start by learning how to use Python to launch applications right from Maya. We’ll then learn how to source external Python scripts. Afterwards, we’ll learn how to code our how expressions and how to utilize Script Nodes. And, to finish up, we’ll learn how to create a tool that can save poses and bookmarks. By the end of this course, you’ll have the skill set to build your own tools with Python that can help you and your team work efficiently.

We’ll begin with a brief overview of navigation in the animation view port in MODO followed by a discussion about what frames are and playback controls. After this we’ll begin creating some animation by learning what keyframes are and how to set them. Next we’ll dive into the graph editor and the dope sheet to learn some basic ways we can edit our keyframes and modify the interpolation of their values across time. Continuing on, we learn about additional tools to visualize and modify our animation. We’ll finish by learning about some basic camera movements and how to animate them. If you are ready to start exploring how to animate in MODO, watching this course will help you get started with the essential tools that you will need to begin that journey.
