Creating a Walk Cycle in MODO

Duration 3h 2m Level Beginner Project Files Included 15FPS MP4

Taking one step at a time, in this tutorial, we’ll break down the body mechanics of a walk cycle.

We’ll begin this process by learning about the main positions that one goes through in a walk and how we can pose the extremes for our character’s walk cycle. Following this we’ll learn how to create seamless cycles and explore ways we can add convincing follow-through and weight. Along the way, we’ll also use MODO’s graph editor to make refinements to our walk cycle by adjusting curves, tangent handles, and
mirroring values.?After watching this course you’ll have the confidence to create walk cycles that have a lot of?personality while having a lot of fun.

Modeling Interiors in Maya

Duration 4h 26m Level Intermediate Project Files Included 15 FPS MP4

In this series of tutorials, we will use a variety of tools and techniques to model a home interior. This particular interior will be a little more warm and rustic. It will provide us with some different challenges, but will produce a nice result once you’re done.

We will begin by blocking in the architecture of the room using some simple geometry before we finish it with edge detail and trim. We’ll learn to use box modeling to build furniture like couches and chairs, and talk about modifying the models so they look more realistic. We’ll create some simple stone blocks, build up a rustic fireplace, and add exposed beams to the room. We’ll also use curves to add some iron
work to the railings and create some detailed lighting fixtures. We’ll finish up by discussing some set dressing concepts as we create and add props to populate our set.

We’ll cover a lot of different tools in building up our interior and, armed with that knowledge, you’ll be able to start working on your own custom interior models very quickly.

Texture Projection Techniques in MARI

Duration 2h 30m Level Beginner Project Files Included 15 FPS MP

Projecting photographs onto your models is a quick and easy way to add high levels of detail to your final textures.

In this course, we will use a project based approach to demonstrate some techniques that you as a texture artist will be able to use not just in this course, but on every project you work on here inside of MARI. After setting up our project to work in and bringing in images, we will learn how to quickly project an image onto our model using MARI?s Paint Through tool. Now every image won?t be a perfect match for the mesh that we are projecting it onto so next we?ll focus on transforming the projected image or paint before it is baked into our texture.

From here we?ll learn about some pitfalls to be on the lookout for when projecting images and how we can begin to account for those using projection masking. This course will cover several other valuable tip and tricks for a texture artist including the mirroring of textures from one side of our model to the other and color correction all while fully utilizing MARI 2.0?s layer based workflow.

After finishing this course, you will not only have a fully textured asset with color, specular and bump maps but you?ll also have a new arsenal of tricks to add to your own texturing projects.

Introduction to Scripting Shaders in Unity

Duration 1h 9m Level Intermediate Project Files Included 15 FPS MP4

In this series of tutorials we will learn the basics of scripting shaders in Unity.

We will start out by discussing the fundamentals of shaders where we’ll learn about what a shader is, what shader languages are available in Unity and how to properly structure a shader. Once that is out of the way, we’ll jump into creating a very simple shader to reinforce the foundation lesson. Then we’ll start to add more and more functionality to our shader like how to add textures through properties. Then we’ll learn about lighting models by modifying our shader to accept a specular map. We’ll even add control to the inspector to adjust the overall glossiness of the shader. Finally, we’ll finish off the training by adding emissive and alpha maps to our shaders.
